 Blade Runner Notes 

-        Replicants- robots that look just like humans, but superior in intelligence and strength 

-        Blade runners- replicants get arrested if they are caught by the police  

-        Set in 2019 

-        The replicants can’t be killed only put into “retirement” 

-        Test being taken, Mr. Holder (the tester) was watching the eye, Leon’s being asked a hypothetical situation about being in a desert and a tortoise being flipped onto his back 

o    Mr. Holder says that the test is made to show an emotional response

o    Leon (tested) shoots Mr. Holder after he was asked about his mother 

-        Buildings- very futuristic, many neon signs and colors on a dark city landscape 

-        Mr. Deckard was arrested by Captain Bryant to get his attention; Captain Bryant wants him to come back onto the job

-        Bryant and Deckard watching the video of the interview from before they believe he is a replicant named Leon 

-        Roy, Zohra, Pris, Leon 

o     Nexus 6- they have a kill switch after 4 years they die- they were created to infiltrate human life 

-        Deckard- “replicants are either a benefit or a hazard to society and if they are a benefit I don’t care” 

o    If they were a benefit Deckard would not have to be there

-        Deckard is “indulging” Rachel (I am assuming indulging is the type of test as he is watching her pupils) 

o    Her test took at least 100 questions to identify that she was a replicant whereas in the past it would have taken 20-30 questions at most 

-        Tyrell is the one creating replicants, “more human than humans”

o    Tyrell how he is creating the newer replicants and they are not aware that they are replicants, he finds that if he gives them memories it is easier to control them as they believe that they are human 

-        Deckard in the hotel room 

o    bathtub- finds a scale

o    pictures

o    Iridescent substance on the newspaper 

-        Leon and Roy know each other- both replicants?

o    They go into a lab where the man is examing eyeballs 

o    The man is the one who designs Nexus’s eyes 

o    Leon and Roy are tormenting the man to find answers 

-        Rachel waited for Deckard to come back to her apartment 

o    Rachel wanted to know if she was a replicant 

o    Deckard tells her that her memories weren’t hers they were Tyrell’s nieces that she was implanted with them

o    She begins to cry, and he tells her that it was a joke, but she doesn’t believe him because some part of her knows that it is true, that she is a replicant and that she is just Tyrell’s experiment 

-        Pris (replicant) was lost, she does not have a home, she meets J.F and he invites her in to come eat

o    J.F. lives in this abandoned building by himself

o    He is a genetic designer “he makes his friends” 

o    Pris has friends but she must find them, but she is an orphan 

o     

-        Deckard is imagining a white horse in a forest 

-        Deckard places one of the photos he found into a scanner and is analyzing the photo on a deeper level 

o    In the photo he finds a woman laying down in the back of a photo in the bathtub that he had found some sort of scale in and from the picture it seems like they would match 

o    The scale is a snake scale, man-made snake scale 

-        Deckard seems very intrigued by Rachel 

-        Deckard is chasing the woman that had the snake after she attacked him for asking her questions and pretending to be a reporter 

o    Deckard shoots her multiple times 

o    Leon was a witness to everything 

o    She had a snake tattoo on the side of her face 

-        Captain Bryant wants Deckard to kill Rachel

-        Leon finds Deckard and begins to attack him and ask him questions about his life 

o    Like how long he is going to live 

-        Rachel kills Leon 

o    Deckard is talking to Rachel about the “shakes” he gets after he kills a replicant, but it is just a part of his job 

§  Shows that he isn’t as stone cold as he may seem 

o    Rachel “I am in in the business; I am the business” 

-        Deckard wouldn’t go after Rachel if she ran, he says that he owes her one for saving his life 

-        Rachel asks Deckard if he ever took the Replicant test himself

o    Is Deckard a replicant? 

-        J.F Sebastian meets Roy 

o    J.F Sebastian was the one who genetically designs for Tyrell Corp 

o    “I think therefore I am”- Pris 

o    J.F Sebastian’s component in chess is Dr. Tyrell 

o    Roy knew that J.F Sebastian would help lead them to Dr. Tyrell 

o    Roy and Pris are playing a game against J.F Sebastian they are doing everything in their power to meet Tyrell 

-        Replicants eyes have a yellow reflection to them 

-        Roy meets Tyrell 

o    Roy tells Tyrell that he wants more life 

o    Coding sequence cannot be revised once set in motion 

o    "The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long"

-        Roy crushes Tyrell and kills him 

o    Roy killed his creator 

-        “The Bradbury”

o    Pris disguises herself as one of J. F’s toys, but Deckard realizes that she is a replicant 

o    Pris attacks J.F 

o    Deckard kills Pris 

-        Roy finds Pris 

-        Roy is antagonizing Deckard, baiting him to fight him 

o    “Aren’t you supposed to be the good guy” 

o    Roy drives a nail through his hand 

o    Roy is standing over Deckard on the roof “Quite an experience to live in fear isn’t it. That’s what its like to be a slave”- Roy talking about his experience as a replicant 

o     Roy says Deckard 

-        Roy is reflecting on his life and what he has experienced in his 4 years of life 

-        Roy dies and that same time a dove flies out of his hand when all animals are supposed to be extinct 

-        “It’s too bad she won’t live, but then again who does” – Gaff 

-        Unicorn origami
